Nick Tomsick poured in 32 points in 33 minutes of action Saturday night to lead the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team to an 86-75 win from Whalen Gymnasium.
Tomsick sank 12-of-14 field goals, including 4-of-5 three-point field goals and 4-of-6 free throws. Junior center
Alex Herrera chipped in 22 points after making 8-of-12 field goals. Herrera pulled down nine rebounds and added three blocks.
With the win, FLC improves to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. BHSU drops to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in the RMAC.
The Skyhawks, who trailed by two points at halftime, went on a 12-2 run early in the second half to take a 59-48 lead, marking their largest lead of the game.
Fort Lewis posted 18 points off of the Yellowjackets 13 turnovers and out-rebounded BHSU, 26-18.
Tommy Earl led Black Hills State with 22 points after netting 7-of-10 field goals and 7-of-10 free throws.
The Skyhawks will play next Friday at New Mexico Highlands at 8 p.m., followed by Saturday's road game against Western New Mexico at 7:30 p.m.
