Ashley Wells tallied a match high 17 kills and
Madi Bickle added 11 but the Fort Lewis College volleyball team fell short Friday night to New Mexico Highlands University, 3-2, at Whalen Gymnasium (22-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-18, 15-11).
Both teams entered the match tied in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a 2-6 record. The loss puts the Skyhawks at 5-12 overall and 2-7 in league matches.
Senior setter
Heather Danny recorded 23 assists, three kills and a service ace.
Ciara Krening chipped in 14 assists and five digs.
Ally Dell'Amico totaled 18 digs, followed by Wells' 10 digs.
Fort Lewis blocked 12 of the Cowgirls attacks.
The Skyhawks hit .146 for the match, tallying 51 kills on 151 attempts (29 errors).
Alicia Moreno led NMHU with 14 kills and 19 digs.
Fort Lewis will play host to Western New Mexico University Saturday night at 7 p.m.
