DURANGO, Colo. – October 24, 2014 – The Fort Lewis College volleyball team snapped a five match losing streak Friday night at Whalen Gymnasium after defeating Western State Colorado University in five sets (25-10, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 15-12).
The last time the Skyhawks won a match was Oct. 4 at Western State, when they also held a 2-0 lead before winning the match in five sets.
The win moves FLC to 6-15 overall and 3-10 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Western State falls to 0-17 overall and 0-13 in the league.
Three Skyhawks recorded 10 or more kills against the Mountaineers.
Ashley Wells posted 16 kills, 12 digs and two blocks.
Mallory Dill tied a season high with 12 kills, and
Madi Bickle added 10 kills on 31 attempts (two errors) for a .348 hitting percentage.
Heather Danny and
Ciara Krening each recorded 23 set assists, while All Dell'Amico had a match high 25 digs. Dell'Amico and
Lindley Gallegos each served two aces against the Mountaineers. Gallegos also dug up 11 attacks.
As a team, the Skyhawks hit .229. They posted 62 kills on 170 attempts (23 errors).
The Mountaineers Jordan Eatwell tallied a match high 24 kills.
Fort Lewis will play host to Colorado State-Pueblo Saturday night at 7 p.m. The match will recognize the five Skyhawk seniors on Senior Night:

Heather Danny,
Stephani Sonka and
Ashley Wells.
