2014 Skyhawks Volleyball Game Day Notes - Oct. 27, 2014Scouting the MustangsThe Skyhawks will travel to Western New Mexico University on Friday. Â The last time the two teams met was Oct. 11 in Durango, Colo. Â Fort Lewis lost that meeting, 1-3. Â
Leeta Grap and Heather Verrill lead the Mustangs offense. Grap has a team high 2.37 kills per set and it hitting at a .151 clip. Verrill is averaging 2.01 kills per set with a .332 hitting percentage.
Verrill (20 blocks) and Shannon Rich (18 blocks) lead the Mustangs defense at the net, while Barbara Soranzo owns a team high 241 digs.
The Mustangs enter Friday's match on a two game winning streak (9-12, 6-8 RMAC).Â
Scouting the CowgirlsOn Saturday, the Skyhawks will face New Mexico Highlands. Â In their first meeting this season, the Cowgirls handed the Skyhawks a 3-2 setback.
The Cowgirls are led on offense by Alicia Moreno who has a team high 2.80 kills per set and is hitting at a .196 clip. Defensively Tianna Matthews has a team high 11 blocks, and Jessica Piper owns a team high of 361 digs.
The Cowgirls are 3-4 at home this year.
Individually SpeakingSeveral Skyhawks are ranked in the top 25 in the league. Â
Madi Bickle's .213 hitting percentage is 22nd in the RMAC and her 71 blocks are the 11th most in the league. Â
Shelby Lehman has 63 blocks, ranking her 17th overall.
Ashley Wells is 10th in the RMAC in kills with 256 (3.05 kills per game), and 21st overall in digs (256, 3.05 digs per set).
Ally Dell'Amico has the fifth most digs in the RMAC. Â She has 427 digs this season, an average of 4.91 digs per set. Â Her 23 aces are the 15th most in the league. Â
Lindley Gallegos is averaging 0.36 aces per set, ranking her third overall in the league (28 total aces).
Academic SuccessSix Fort Lewis College volleyball student-athletes were named to the 2014 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Volleyball Team.

To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and have completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution.Â
