LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Senior
Ashley Wells hit .361 at the net and tallied 18 kills to help lead the Fort Lewis College volleyball team to a 3-1 win Saturday night at Las Vegas, N.M. The win improves the Skyhawks to 7-17 overall and 4-12 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Cowgirls drop to 10-16 overall and 5-11 in the RMAC.
The Skyhawks won set one, 25-23 and hit .273 offensively. In a 29-27 win in set two, the Skyhawks recorded a match high 18 kills and hit .333. The Cowgirls came back to win set three, 25-21, before FLC won the fourth and final set, 25-22.
Wells committed only five hitting errors on 36 attempts. She also posted a match high 20 digs and added two assists and an ace.
Heather Danny recorded 34 of FLC's 58 assists.
Ciara Krening chipped in 14 assists.
Lindley Gallegos served up two aces and dug up 13 attacks while sophomore libero
Ally Dell'Amico added 17 digs, two assists and an ace.
The Cowgirls' Alicia Moreno led both teams with 24 kills to go with her .352 hitting percentage.
As a team, the Skyhawks posted six aces and blocked seven attacks.
Fort Lewis will play their final home match of the season on Thursday, Nov. 6 against Colorado Mesa. They will travel to Adams State on Saturday, Nov. 8. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m.
