2014 Skyhawks Volleyball Game Day Notes - Nov. 3, 2014
Scouting the MavericksThe Skyhawks will host ninth ranked Colorado Mesa University on Thursday at 7 p.m. Â The last time the two teams met was Oct. 14 in Grand Junction, Colo. Â Fort Lewis lost that meeting, 0-3. Â
CMU leads the series 54-33-1 overall and 22-14 when playing at Fort Lewis.
The Mavericks lead the league in opponent hitting percentage (.134)
Melissa Hess and Erin Perez led the Mavericks offense the last time these two teams met. Hess has a team high 3.42 kills per set and it hitting at a .350 clip. Perez is averaging 1.60 kills per set with a .155 hitting percentage.
Hess (eight blocks) and Abby Ney (14 blocks) lead the Mavericks defense at the net, while Tiffany Peterson owns a team high 415 digs.
The Mavericks enter Thursday's contest on a 13 match winning streak (22-3, 15-1 RMAC).Â
Scouting the GrizzliesOn Saturday, the Skyhawks will play at Adams State University. Â In their first meeting this season, the Grizzlies handed the Skyhawks a 3-2 setback at home.
Fort Lewis has a 67-33 lead over the Grizzlies in the all-time series. Â The Grizzlies are 20-19 when playing FLC in Alamosa.
The Grizzlies are led on offense by Lindsey Stint who has a team high 3.72 kills per set and is hitting at a .208 clip. Defensively Mallory Grimsrud has a team high 26 blocks, and Gabrielle Timmen owns a team high of 343 digs.
The Grizzlies are 6-2 at home this year.
Individually SpeakingSeveral Skyhawks are ranked in the top 25 in the league. Â
Madi Bickle's .216 hitting percentage is 22nd in the RMAC and her 81 blocks are the 12th most in the league. Â
Shelby Lehman has 69 blocks, ranking her 18th overall.
Ashley Wells is ninth in the RMAC in kills with 296 (3.18 kills per game), and 18th overall in digs (298, 3.20 digs per set).
Ally Dell'Amico has the fourth most digs in the RMAC. Â She has 472 digs this season, an average of 4.92 digs per set. Â Her 25 aces are the 14th most in the league. Â
Lindley Gallegos is averaging 0.37 aces per set, ranking her second overall in the league (32 total aces).
ACADEMIC SUCCESSSix Fort Lewis College volleyball student-athletes were named to the 2014 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Volleyball Team.

Ally Dell'Amico was voted to the first team. Â Dell'Amico, who owns a 3.93 grade point average in Math, has played in all 79 sets for the Skyhawks this season. Â She ranks fourth in the league in digs (4.77 digs/set) and 15th in aces (21). Â Dell'Amico has 15 matches with 15 or more digs and 11 matches of 20 or more digs.

The Fort Lewis College volleyball team won the first two sets at Western New Mexico University before the Mustangs stormed back to win the next three to earn a 3-2 win over the Skyhawks Friday night at Drags Court (25-23, 27-25, 19-25, 20-25, 10-15).

Ashley Wells recorded a season high 22 kills against the Mustangs. Â She finished the match with a season high .362 hitting percentage (22 kills, five errors, 47 attempts). Â
Heather Danny posted 31 of the Skyhawks 62 assists. Â Wells also added the second highest digs for the Skyhawks with 22. Â
Ally Dell'Amico led the back row defense with 28 digs.

Madi Bickle chipped in nine kills, four digs and six assists.
