Skyhawks Finish Weekend with 3-1 Win

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KINGSVILLE, Texas – September 13, 2014 – Sophomore libero Ally Dell'Amico recorded 20 digs and two service aces Saturday night to help lead the Skyhawks to a 3-1 win over American International University from Kingsville, Texas (24-26, 25-19, 25-18, 25-22).  The win was the Skyhawks second of the weekend and third of the season as they improve to 3-5 on the young season.
 
Offensively, Stephani Sonka led the team with 11 kills and hit a staggering .429 at the net with only two errors on 21 attempts.  Ciara Krening assisted on 20 of the Skyhawks 43 kills and Kennedy Clark added 14 assists.
 
Fort Lewis hit .194 as team, committing 18 errors on 129 attempts.  Lindley Gallegos recorded a season high five service aces, accounting for nearly half of the team's 11 aces.
 
"Defensively we played united tonight," said Fort Lewis College head volleyball coach Kelley Rifilato.  "Offensively we had a very balanced attack.  We are adjusting to line up changes and ready for conference play to begin."
 
In the Skyhawks opening match of the day and third of the weekend, FLC fell to Eastern New Mexico 22-25, 17-25, 25-23 and 24-26.
 
Krening (20) and Clark (14) combined for 34 set assists in the Skyhawks 6-2 offense.  Ashley Wells posted a team high 11 kills and hit .250 at the net (three errors, 32 attempts).  Wells added 10 digs and two blocks defensively.  Sonka posted eight kills and six block assists as the Skyhawks came away from the game with 11 blocks.
 
Six of the Skyhawks nine service aces came from Ally Dell'Amico and Lindley Gallegos who each served three aces.
 
As a team, Fort Lewis hit .084.  The Zia's Lauren Fry led both teams with 22 kills.  ENMU notched 52 kills as a team.
 
The Skyhawks will open their home season and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season with a triple header at Whalen Gymnasium.
