DURANGO, Colo. – October 2, 2015 –
Malik Badawi scored his first goal of the season at 17:58 in the first half which resulted in the game-winning goal as the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team continued their winning streak to seven games after shutting out Westminster College, 3-0, Friday afternoon at Dirks Field.
Fort Lewis moves to 7-2-0 overall and 4-0-0 in league games. The Griffins drop to 1-6-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the RMAC.
Martin Lopez also found the back of the net at 61:14 for the first time this season and the first time in his career. Lopez received a pass from
Yannis Becker which led to a shot from the top left corner of the box.
Zac Lawrence sealed the win at 81:13 from Lopez' pass. Lawrence leads the team with four goals.
Elliot Chadderton and the Skyhawks back line held the Griffins to seven shots, only three of them landed on goal. Today's shutout was the Skyhawks fourth of the season.
FLC rattled off 18 shots (nine shots on goal). Becker led both teams with six shots (two on goal).
The Skyahwks will travel to Colorado Mesa University on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.
