DURANGO, Colo. – November 6, 2015 – The second best team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Mountain Division handed the Fort Lewis College volleyball team a 3-1 loss Friday night at Whalen Gymnasium. Western New Mexico University entered the match with an 11-4 league record (16-7 overall), the second best in the RMAC Mountain Division.
The Mustangs won set one, 25-17, before FLC tied the match after the second set, 25-20. After the break, WNMU went on to win set 3, 25-18 and set 4, 26-24.
Fort Lewis hit .116 offensively at the net behind 42 kills. The Skyhawks dug up 46 of the Mustangs 151 attacks, and added five team blocks.
Matisse Monty tallied a team high 10 kills and 30 assists, followed by
Gabriella Hickman's nine kills.
Delaney Scanlan accounted for 30 of the Skyhawks 36 set assists.
Maddie LeBlanc assisted on four blocks.
FLC (5-19, 2-14 RMAC) will play their final home match of the season Saturday against New Mexico Highlands. The Skyhawks two seniors –
Lindley Gallegos and
Shelby Lehman – will be honored on Senior Day before the match. First serve goes out at 5 p.m.
