LAKEWOOD, Colo. – October 8, 2016 – The Fort Lewis College volleyball team held a two set lead at Colorado Christian University Saturday afternoon, but the Cougars came back to win the match, 3-2. FLC moves to 4-12 overall and 3-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Cougars improve to 14-5 on the season and 6-2 in league matches.
FLC opened the match with 15 kills in set one and 11 kills in set two to combine for a .186 hitting mark. The Skyhawks won set one, 25-22, followed by a 25-19 win in set two.
CCU came back to win the next three sets, -19, -16, -10.
Matisse Monty led FLC with 13 kills.
Maddie LeBlanc posted a team high .261 hitting percentage with nine kills on 23 attempts and only three errors.
Kendra Swackenberg notched 40 of the Skyhawks 48 set assists.
Ally Dell'Amico led five Skyhawks in double digit digs with 29.
FLC finished with 14 team blocks behind
Laine Waters' five assisted blocks and one solo block.
Hannah Martinez added three block assists, two solo blocks and eight kills at the net.
FLC will travel to Chadron State next Friday for a 6 p.m. match, followed by a 5 p.m. match on Saturday against Regis University.
