PORTALES, N.M. – November 12, 2016 – Katilyn Romero came off the bench to score a game high 15 points and lead the Fort Lewis College women's basketball team to a 73-69 win at Eastern New Mexico University Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Skyhawks to 2-0 on the season.
"This was a great win for us as Eastern New Mexico is a talented team with experience," said head coach
Jason Flores. "We were able take our second half play from yesterday and translate it to this game. We also again had a good combination of returners playing well and a lot of great contribution from a group of our newcomers."
All 15 of Romero's points came from long range as she hit on 5-of-6 three-point field goal attempts. Romero also dished out a team high four assists and grabbed three rebounds.
Kayla Herrera netted 5-of-11 field goals as part of her 13 points. Herrera pulled down five rebounds added three assists.
Alyssa Yocky and
Briana Clah each contributed nine points. Yocky recorded a team high five rebounds.
The Skyhawks finished the game making 43.3 percent of their field goals (26-of-60) and a solid 53.3 percent from long range (8-of-15).
FLC will continue their three game road swing Monday at Western New Mexico University. Tipoff is at 5 p.m.
