Women's Soccer Drops 4-1 Decision at No. 23 CSU-Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. – November 2, 2016 – No. 7 seed Fort Lewis College dropped a 4-1 decision Wednesday night at No. 2 seed Colorado State University-Pueblo, 4-1, in the first round of the 2016 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Soccer championship tournament.

"They had a great first shot, better than their second, third and fourth goals," said head coach Jimmy Hall. "We scored one in the second half to cut it to 2-1.  We were looking good and continued to grind and play.  I'm really proud of the girls final effort. We just let too many things cross our line."

The ThunderWolves, ranked No. 23 in the nation, improve to 13-3-1 overall and will advance to the semifinal round on Friday against Regis University.

CSU-Pueblo took a 2-0 lead into halftime after goals by Laikyn Koss at 8:26 and Kacie Licata at 44:26.

Jackie Strom scored her first goal of the season less than three minutes into the second half to cut the lead down to 2-1.

Koss netted her third goal of the game nine minutes later, followed by Hannah Andersen's insurance goal at 64:55.

FLC was outshot 12-9 and 7-5 shots on goal.

Courtney Riley led the team with two shot attempts.

Kaylee Mickens played all 90 minutes in goal, making three saves.

The Skyhawks end their season 6-9-2 overall.
