The Fort Lewis College football team will play their final road game of the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 4 when they travel to Las Vegas, N.M. to face New Mexico Highlands University in Perkins Stadium.
New Mexico Highlands enters Saturday's game 2-7 overall and 1-7 in league games. The Cowboys started the season with a 23-22 home win over Dixie State and won two of their first three games. After a non-conference win over Texas Western, NMHU has gone a six game losing streak.
The Cowboys are getting outscored by 24.2 points per game. They are scoring 21.9 points per game, but allowing 46.1.
FLC's defense is fourth in the league in points allowed (27.2) and rushing yards allowed per game (149.8).
The Skyhawks have recorded an interception in all but two games this season, and are third in the league with 11 total (183 return yards) and the second most interceptions returned for a touchdown (four).
Three Skyhawks are in the top 20 in the league in tackles, led by
Darrian Stickney. Stickney has the fourth most tackles with 78 (39 solo), followed by
Isiah Mayberry (14th, 59 tackles) and
OJ Thompson (18th, 58 tackles).
Thompson and
Christopher Blanton have the second most sacks in the RMAC, accounting for six each. Thompson is also third in tackles for a loss (nine).
Donell Pleasant III leads the team in interceptions, picking off four attempts and running two of them back for touchdowns.
Tyler Telphy leads the team and is seventh in the league in rushing with 702 yards. He is averaging 5.8 yards per carry. He is also ninth overall with 939 all-purpose yards.

Ben Raybon was named the RMAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday. Raybon is the second Skyhawk to earn RMAC Player of the Week honors this season (
Max Peets).
From Arvada, Colo., Raybon accounted for 14 points in a 44-35 home win over South Dakota School of Mines after he made all three field goal attempts and all five extra point attempts. His three made field goals are a career high, as was his 46-yard field goal attempt. Raybon put the ball through the uprights on field goal attempts from 25, 44 and 46 yards. He also averaged 61 yards on nine kickoffs.
In nine games this season, Raybon is fourth in the league in scoring (kicking) with 50 points. He has made 9-of-11 field goals and 23-of-25 extra point attempts. His nine made field goals also tie for the most in the league.
The 2017 Academic All-RMAC Football Team was announced on Wednesday, and four Fort Lewis College student-athletes were named to the Honor Roll:
Dre Cortez,
Ben Hanks,
Frank Larriva and
Kyle Mudick.
The Skyhawks are coming off a 44-35 home win over South Dakota Mines.
The Skyhawks amassed 391 yards of total offense on 66 plays, including 254 rushing yards. FLC's defense sacked South Dakota Mines seven times and helped FLC score 21 points off of turnovers.
Telphy notched his fourth 100-yard rushing game of the season. He carried the ball 23 times for 170 yards and one score, averaging 7.4 yards per carry.
Jake Lowry completed 8-of-19 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 58 yards and a score.
Max Peets punted four times for 177 times, an average of 44.2 yards per punt. Two of his punts landed inside the 20-yard line.
Mayberry led FLC with 10 tackles (eight solo). He added a sack for a loss of seven yards and two of his tackles went for a loss of eight yards. Thompson registered nine tackles, three of which were sacks for a loss of eight yards. He also added a forced fumble.
The Skyhawks finished with 10 tackles for a loss of 37 yards, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, six pass break ups and two interceptions returns for 25 yards and a touchdown.
