DURANGO, Colo. – September 16, 2017 – For the second night in a row, the Fort Lewis College volleyball went five sets at home. On Saturday, the Skyhawks recorded their first win at home of the season with a 3-2 victory over South Dakota School of Mines in Whalen Gymnasium (25-19, 16-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-12).
The win improves the Skyhawks to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in league matches. South Dakota Mines drops to 1-9 overall and 0-2 in the RMAC.
FLC hit .174 as a team, and posted 63 kills, four aces and 59 set assists.
Bailey Longacre and
Maddie LeBlanc led FLC with 14 kills each while hitting over .300 at the net.
Taylor Knoll chipped in nine kills and seven digs, and
Hannah Martinez and
Laine Waters each posted eight kills.
Kendra Swackenberg tallied 51 assists and tied for team high honors with
Megan Graefe in digs (17).
The Hardrockers' Mikkella Reese led both teams with 21 kills.
The Skyhawks will travel to UCCS on Sept. 22 and MSU Denver on Sept. 23.
