Women's Soccer Charts First Win of the Season, 1-0 at NMHU

TAOS, N.M. – September 17, 2017 – The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team charted their first win of the season Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 decision against New Mexico Highlands University in Taos, N.M.

"It was a good game," said head coach Jimmy Hall.  "We came out ready to play.  We moved the ball well in the first half.  Cooper ( Alicia Sanchez) and Jess Singletary paired up well.  Mia Castaneda played the ball well to Jess who took a touch pass around the goalie and defender to score.  Ali Miller made important saves today.  She had a great weekend in goal."

Singleton's game-winning goal was scored at 8:24 in the first half from Jenna Brown's and Castaneda's assist.

The Skyhawks were doubled up on shots, 18-9.  Brown led FLC with three shot attempts.

Miller made seven saves in goal for her first shutout of the season.

The win moves FLC to 1-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Skyhawks will return home to play host to Regis University on Friday at 1 p.m., and MSU Denver on Sept. 24 at 12 p.m.
