CANYON, Texas – September 3, 2017 – The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team was held scoreless Sunday afternoon at West Texas A&M University, 2-0.
"It took us a little while to answer some defensive questions for us, which meant we didn't get the offensive attacks we wanted until the second half" said head coach
Jimmy Hall. "We did a better job in the second half getting forward and creating opportunities."
The Buffs found the back of the net at 10:43 to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Calista Cordero added an insurance goal for WT with less than three minutes left in regulation.
Five different Skyhawks fired off one shot each.
Alicia Sanchez,
Meredith Curran and
Mackenzie Gansmann each landed a shot on goal.
West Texas attempted 14 shots (eight shots on goal).
Ali Miller made two saves in the first half.
Britt Blomso made four saves in goal in the second half.
The Skyhawks will open their home season on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. against Angelo State University.
