Skyhawks Face Rangers, Eagles on the Road

  • The Fort Lewis College women's basketball team will finish their four-game road trip this weekend against Regis University and Chadron State College.
  • Friday's game will start at 5 p.m. and Saturday's tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m.
  • Regis is seventh in the RMAC standings with a 6-4 record and 7-8 overall.
  • Chadron is placed 14th in the RMAC standings with a 1-10 record and 3-14 overall. Their lone RMAC win was against Colorado Christian.
  • Fort Lewis College moved down from No. 13 to No. 23 in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II National poll.  
  • FLC has been ranked in all nine WBCA polls this season.  The highest the Skyhawks have ever been nationally rank was No. 2 (2008-09 season).  Their highest ranking this season is No. 11 (Nov. 28, 2017).
  • Fort Lewis holds a current record of 15-3 and 9-3 in the RMAC. The Skyhawks are undefeated at home this season at 11-0.
  • The Skyhawks fall within the top two in the RMAC in multiple categories, including leading the league in scoring offense (70.2) and offensive rebound percentage (36.3). FLC is second in the league in assists (283), assists per game (17.7), blocked shots (67), blocked shots per game (3.7), free throw attempts (341), made free throws (262), and scoring margin (15.6).
  • Freshman Vivian Gray leads the league in points per game (17.5), field goals made (113), blocked shots (35) and blocked shots per game (2.1). She falls in the top 10 of field goal attempts (10th, 242), steals (fourth, 33), steals per game (fourth, 1.9), field goal percentage (tenth, 46.7), free throw percentage (sixth, 82.1) and made free throws (sixth, 64).
  • Senior Astrea Reed is fourth in the RMAC in free throw percent (.828).
  • Briana Clah owns a league leading 3.1 assists-to-turnover ratio, while ranking seventh in assists (62) and assists per game (3.6).
  • Sophomore Kayla Herrera is averaging 2.1 steals per game. Her 1.6 assists-to-turnover ratio is the eighth best in the RMAC.
  • The Skyhawks have earned the RMAC Player of the Week award seven times this season:
    Jan. 8, 2018 – Vivian Gray (Offensive), Jan. 1, 2018 – Vivian Gray (Offensive & Defensive), Dec. 11, 2017 – Astrea Reed (Offensive); Dec. 4, 2017 – Vivian Gray (Defensive); Nov. 27, 2017 – Vivian Gray (Defensive) and Nov. 13, 2017 – Kayla Herrera (Defensive).
  • The Skyhawks will return home on Jan. 27 to take on Colorado Christian University at 1 p.m. in Whalen Gymnasium.
