SPEARFISH, S.D. – February 27, 2018 – A late run by the No. 6 seed Fort Lewis College women's basketball team fell short Tuesday night at No. 3 seed Black Hills State University. The Skyhawks fells to the YellowJackets, 59-56, in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference quarterfinal round.
Trailing 54-44 with 3:34 left in the game, the Skyhawks hits three three-pointers and three free throws to go on a 12-4 run.
Vivian Gray made a three-point shot with 16 seconds left to bring FLC within two points, 58-56, but BHSU's Rachel Erickson made 1-of-2 free throws to give the YellowJackets a three-point lead, 59-56.
The Skyhawks attempted a three-point shot with one second left on the game clock and were able to get the rebound and attempt another shot from downtown, but fell short.
Jordan Carter came off the bench to lead FLC with 14 points. Carter was perfect from the floor, making all five field goal attempts and all four from the charity stripe.
Gray finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Skyhawks (20-9) committed 19 turnovers resulting in 20 points for the YellowJackets (23-6).
Rachel Erickson led all scorers with 19 points.
