RMAC Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado —
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) released the volleyball All-RMAC teams on Wednesday, with a trio of Fort Lewis College student-athletes receiving recognition.

The major award winners, and the First and Second All-RMAC teams, were nominated and voted on by the conference's 14 competing volleyball head coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.

Fort Lewis had three players earn All-RMAC Honorable Mention honors in senior outside hitter Alexa Treguboff, sophomore middle blocker Rylee Johnson and sophomore defensive specialist Kamryn Lopez.

"The fact that the conference coaches recognized three of our players who were definitely leaders for us is fantastic. I think it's exciting and I'm glad they were noticed even though we didn't necessarily have the season we wanted," said FLC head volleyball coach, Giedre Tarnauskaite. "It's a well-deserved and well-earned honor. I'm very glad opposing coaches recognized and rewarded them for their contributions to our team."

Treguboff took on a leadership and advanced role her senior season, leading the Skyhawks in kills with 130 and finishing 10th in the conference in kills per set at 2.83.

In addition to her offensive workload, Treguboff shined as a two-way player, finishing second on the team in digs (113) and adding 10 total blocks from the outside hitter position.

"Alexa is an incredible athlete and person. She takes a lot of ownership in everything she does and working with her this last year has been a true pleasure," Tarnauskaite said. "I think every coach would want a full team of people who have the attitude Alexa has. Anything I ever said to Alexa, she took on as something she could improve on right away. To see her growth really makes me happy and proud that her hard worked paid off."

As for Johnson and Lopez, they are a part of a young core for the Skyhawks who have taken on immediate impact roles for a growing program.

Johnson ranked third on the team in kills with 90 (2.73 per set) and was a weapon from the service line, finishing with a team-high 19 aces to tie for the 5th most in the RMAC during the spring.

Lopez paced the FLC back row for the second straight season, leading all Skyhawks with 167 digs (3.63 per set) and accounting for 23.6% of all the digs for a FLC squad that finished sixth in the RMAC in digs per set (15.0) this season.

"Going through the roster, knowing we were a young team, you realize that our sophomores are our contributors, our starters and our leaders. I think that's huge for us," Tarnauskaite said. "One of the categories we were in the top-half of the conference in was digs and looking at the numbers, Kam contributed to nearly a fourth of those digs. Rylee and Kam were absolutely huge for us and I think the future is bright. I think they're going to continue to be key contributors, have big goals, and I'm excited to be part of their journey. I think there's more to come."
