Skyhawks Fall 21-5 to Lynn University

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Kicking off its spring break trip in the sunshine state, the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team dropped a 21-5 game to Lynn University. Fort Lewis falls to 1-4 on the year while Lynn improves to 9-1 overall.

Lynn dominated the shot column, charting 32 for the game compared to eight for Fort Lewis. The Skyhawks were 8-of-19 on clear attempts versus a 9-of-12 mark for the Fighting Knights.

Sophomore Caprietta Abbadessa continued her impressing 2022 campaign, notching two goals and an assist. Sophomore Haley Dostie was another bright spot for the Skyhawks, putting up two goals on three shots. Redshirt sophomore Rebecca Kiyokawa had five ground balls and four caused turnovers to lead the team. Junior Averi Basso had seven saves in 35 minutes of play, while freshman Caley Lay made her first appearance of the season with four saves.

The Skyhawks were the first to strike in the contest, earning a Dostie goal just one minute into play for a narrow lead. Lynn went on to score nine unanswered goals to hold a 9-1 advantage after one quarter. The Fighting Knights went on to build a sizable 14-1 lead as the second quarter drew nearer to ending, but a goal from Abbadessa put a pause in the building momentum. Fort Lewis picked up three goals in the final two-quarters of play while limiting the home squad to six goals as the final score sat at 21-5.

Fort Lewis (1-4) will take on Palm Beach Atlantic University (1-5) on Friday for a 1:00 p.m. start in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Sailfish are coming off a 17-3 loss to Lynn University in the team's most recent outing. It will be the first time that the teams have met in FLC women's lacrosse history.
