Yellowjackets defeat Skyhawks in neutral site match

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – True freshman Evan Kowalski did all he could in goal, but with the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team unable to generate offense they were stung 1-0 by the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets Saturday evening.
 
Tonight's loss drops the Skyhawks to 1-2-2 overall while the Yellowjackets secure their first win of the season and advance to 1-3 overall.
 
Fort Lewis struggled to connect on the Yellowjackets half of the pitch, producing just seven shots all game with only one on goal. Additionally, FLC took six corner kicks to the 'Jackets three. MSUB was on the hunt all night, taking 11 shots and targeting seven of them on goal.  
 
Montana State Billings' Ryan Hanley scored the lone goal of the night for the 'Jackets. The sophomore scored in the 26th minute thanks to an assist from freshman Viggo Rogstrom.
 
Kowalski fought hard in goal, earning six saves on the evening. 'Jackets goalkeeper Jeremi Campagnolo picked up just one save on the Skyhawks lone goal shot of the night.
 
Next Up
Fort Lewis will move on to challenge the Regis University Rangers next Friday, Sept. 16, in Denver, Colorado. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. MDT
