No. 10/7 Skyhawks meet No. 16/12 Yellow Jackets for a third time in RMAC Tournament Semifinals

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team is headed to the campus of Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado, for the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament. The Skyhawks next roadblock on the journey to the big dance? A third go-around with the 16th-ranked Yellow Jackets from Black Hills State University this Friday, Mar. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Brownson Arena.
 
Tickets for Friday's semifinals are available for purchase now through the RMAC ticketing website HERE. Fans are highly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to secure their seats in Brownson Arena.

LAST TIME OUT
Last Tuesday the Skyhawks punched their ticket to the next round of the RMAC Tournament after downing Regis University (12-17, 9-13 RMAC) 96-89 in Whalen Gymnasium to avenge last season's opening-round loss. Fort Lewis finished 55.9% from the field – the Skyhawks fourth-highest shooting performance this season – with five individuals finishing in double figures alongside the Rangers. Akuel Kot led FLC with 25 points with Obi Agbim in tow with 22 points, a new career high with Fort Lewis.
 
SCOUTING THE 16th-RANKED YELLOW JACKETS
Black Hills State enters the semifinal round much to the same success as Fort Lewis, losing its final game of the season 88-86 to Chadron State College before winning the opening round of the RMAC tournament against sixth-seeded Westminster College 80-69.
 
The Yellow Jackets boast the second-best scoring defense in the RMAC allowing opponents to score 67.8 points per game. Offensively BHSU ranks third in the RMAC averaging 82.0 points per game - a 14.2 scoring margin which leads the conference.
 
Headlining the Black Hills State offense is 2021-22 All-American and back-to-back RMAC Player of the Year Joel Scott. Scott is averaging a near-double-double with 22.8 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. The senior also leads the RMAC with a 62.2% shooting output.

Prior to Friday's game, FLC Athletics will be hosting an alumni and friends social at the Ale House in Grand Junction, Colo., from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. SURVIVE AND ADVANCE
With a win, the Skyhawks would book their trip to the RMAC Tournament Championship against the winner between one-seeded Colorado Mesa and fourth-seeded Colorado School of Mines. The Championship game would take place the following Saturday, Mar. 4, at 6:00 p.m. With a loss, the Skyhawks fate would be decided this Sunday, Mar. 5, at 9:00 p.m. MST with the NCAA Selection Show.
