Fort Lewis returns a wealth of talent from last year’s team, including 17 of the 18 players that notched points in the 2023 season. It will likely be coach Clarke’s deepest roster with six fifth years and four seniors gracing the pitch. Goalkeeping duties will be on lock with a pair of fifth years, Katlyn Rosenbaum and Riley Bravin, patrolling the net. The two are known to split time and combined for a .79 goals-against average last season. Bravin was named All-RMAC Honorable Mention with a .50 goals-against average.
The defensive end will have just as much experience with fifth-year Elizabeth David returning from injury. The Arizona native was on pace for a career season in 2023 before sustaining a season-ending injury in the 15th match of the year. She enters her final season having played in 55 games. Joining her is junior Rachel Peebles who played and started in all 19 games as a sophomore and ranked second on the team with 1555 minutes played. Sophomore Amber Otts, mentioned above as an All-Conference pick in 2023, returns after an incredible debut last season. She was named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 19) and led the team in minutes played (1606).
Fans can expect to see senior Danielle Gonzales patrolling the midfield after working her way back from injury last season. She dished out assists in her first two games back last season. Senior Gabi Meraz Fishbein joins the midfield with 53 career games under her belt. She tied for the team lead with four goals last season and was an All-Conference pick. Fifth-year McKenna Ford is another asset in the midfield with 54 games, five assists, and three goals to her credit. Fifth-year Julia Johnson adds scoring potential at the position, and senior Sabrina Reyes, a two-time All-Conference Honorable Mention selection, brings scoring potential as well.
The forward position is full of talent and speed, led by sophomore Haley Stafford who played in all 19 games last season while supplying one goal and three assists. Sophomore Ashlyn Salas joins her after a two-goal campaign through 19 games played as a freshman. Junior Josie Coulter returns with two goals to her name and looks to have added speed after competing with the indoor and outdoor track program last year. There are a number of players who are primed to have a breakout year, and with a roster of 35 platers, it can be any player on any given day.
