Volleyball drops Regional Pod opener to (RV) UCCS

DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis College was defeated by (RV) UCCS to begin its Regional Pod play on Thursday evening, falling to 14-6 on the year. The three-set loss was the first sweep against the Skyhawks this season.

Fort Lewis remains 8-2 in conference play since the pod matches don't count toward those standings. UCCS improved to 19-2 on the year.

The Skyhawks hit just .109 for the match compared to a .233 efficiency for the Mountain Lions. Fort Lewis out-dug UCCS by a 62-56 margin.

Junior Jordan DeJesus and freshman Caroline Munson put away seven apiece with Munson's .333 efficiency leading the team. Sophomore Addie Garn led the way with 17 assists, followed by freshman Arianna Reyna with 14 helpers and eight digs. Freshman Alyx Daugherty put up 16 digs to lead all players, followed by senior Chloe Ruhl with 10.

Fort Lewis (14-6, 8-2 RMAC) wraps up its pod play on Saturday at 3 PM with a rematch against Colorado School of Mines. The teams faced off in Whalen Gym on October 17 with the Orediggers battling for a five-set victory.
