Skyhawks take on Belles in road contest

DURANGO, Colo. – Women's basketball takes it's unbeaten record on the road for a standalone game against Angelo State University on Saturday, the fourth game this season against Lone Star Conference opponents.

Last Time Out
Fort Lewis played its first home game on the season on Tuesday, earning a 78-67 win over St. Edward's University to improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2017-18.

Fort Lewis shot 33.7 percent from the field in the contest compared to a 43.5 percent clip for St. Edward's but earned an advantage with 28 points off of turnovers. The Hilltoppers spent a lot of time at the free throw line, going 22-of-24 compared to an 18-of-26 mark for the Skyhawks.

Once again, Fort Lewis had four players in double figures. Sophomore Katie Lamb led the team with 18 points to go along with six steals and four rebounds. Junior Malia Ulery followed with 13 points, and freshman Alemaualii Fonoti poured in 12 points and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds. Sophomore Claudia Palacio Gámez added 11 points in the win.

Scouting Angelo State
The Belles enter Saturday's contest with a 1-2 overall record, earning their win in 61-51 fashion over Regis last week. Angelo State was 18-12 overall last season with a 13-9 record in conference play. The team advanced to the second round of the LSC Tournament where they fell to No. Texas Woman's University.

Angelo State is averaging 57.3 points per game (-7.7) while shooting .323 from the field. The team averages 5.3 three pointers per game on a .250 clip and shoots .583 from the stripe. The Belles pull down 41.3 rebounds per game to go along with 10 assists, 20 turnovers, and 8.3 steals per game.

Majik Esquivel leads the scoring efforts with 12.7 points per game, followed by Taylor Grona at 11.3 per game. Keniah Williams is the top rebounder with 9.3 per game to go along with 10 blocks.
