9/10/2025 2:31:00 PM

DURANGO, Colo. – Fans can catch (RV) Skyhawks women's soccer in action in Dirks Field again this week with a pair of 7:00 p.m. kickoffs against Eastern New Mexico and Lubbock Christian University on Thursday and Saturday.

In the National Ranks
Tuesday was an exciting day for the squad as they learned that they were receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll for the first time since 2016.  The Skyhawks have begun the season with a 1-0-1 record after tying St. Mary's University at home and earning their first win of the season in a neutral site match versus St. Edward's University. St. Mary's is also receiving votes in the week one version of the coaches poll.

In addition to Fort Lewis, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) is well-represented in the national ranks. Colorado School of Mines (2-0-0) has ascended to No. 1, followed by Colorado Mesa University (2-0-0) who jumped seven spots to No. 15. UCCS (1-0-1) sits at No. 24, and Westminster University (2-0-0) is No. 25. Regis University joins Fort Lewis in receiving votes.

About Eastern New Mexico
The Greyhounds are 0-1 to start the year after falling to Northwestern Oklahoma State by a final score of 1-0 last week. ENMU was 3-13-1 in 2024 with a 2-11 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The team is under new guidance this season with Nona Borden taking over as head coach in February.

ENMU was selected to finish 14th in the LSC Preseason Poll with three players tabbed as players to watch. The team returns seven players from last season and boasts a small recruiting class with just five joining the group as first-year players.

Gaia Chies returns as the team's offensive player to watch after netting one goal in 16 games played last season. She played in 78 minutes in the season-opener. The defensive player to watch is Cristina Boluda Piqueras who joined the Greyhounds in the spring after playing at Hampton University (NCAA DI). Rosie Willmott Joyce returns in goal after being named to the LSC All-Freshman Team in her freshman season and making 87 saves.

Fort Lewis is 9-2-2 all time against ENMU including a 3-0 road win in 2024. Fort Lewis returns two of the goal scorers from the match, including Danielle Gonzales and Abila Tapia. The Skyhawks outshot the Greyhounds 22-3 in the win.

About Lubbock Christian
The Chaps are 1-1 this season after picking up a 4-1 win over CSU Pueblo on Monday. Lubbock Christian opened the season with a 3-1 loss to No. 4 Colorado School of Mines. The Chaps were 8-7-3 last season with a 6-5-2 record in conference play.

LCU was pick to finish seventh in LSC Preseason Poll and returns All-Region selection Ella Spiller, along with All-Conference players Bonnie Miller, Emma Best, Journey Curs, and Claire Jacobson. The team returns 19 of the 33 players from last year's roster. Offensively, 15 of the 25 goals scored in 2024 return to the pitch.

Spiller leads the team through two matches with a pair of goals and an assist after scoring three goals to go along with three assists in her freshman season. Lexi De La Cruz also boasts two goals after the All-Conference honoree missed all but two games following an injury in 2024.
Fort Lewis is 1-0-2 all-time against Lubbock Christian after playing to ties in the past two matches. The teams ended last season's match in a 1-1 deadlock in Lubbock thanks to a late goal by Ashlyn Salas in the 85th minute.

Around the RMAC
The conference had a solid showing in the opening week with all but three programs escaping with records above .500. Fort Lewis sits in a four-way tie for fourth place with its 1-0-1 record. Colorado Mesa, Mines, and Westminster lead the way with 2-0 marks.

The Skyhawks are one of three teams in the conference with zero goals allowed this season. They rank second in corners (12), second in shots (34), and second in saves percentage (1.000). Senior Abigail Nkrumah is fourth in the league with three shots per game while senior Rozlin Gomez ranks seventh in shots on goal per game (1.5). Freshman Trinity Lujan is one of three goalkeepers to have 180 minutes under their belt with zero goals allowed.
