(RV) Skyhawks rout Orediggers, snag first win in Golden since 2014

Bretvik clinches first hat trick, three Skyhawks net first career goals

GOLDEN, Colo. – The Fort Lewis men's soccer team got back to its winning ways on Sunday afternoon at Stermole Soccer Stadium as junior William Bretvik found his first hat trick, while Alexandros Papakonstantinou, Julián Rojas, Chase Larson, and Francisco Pinto each poured in goals as the Skyhawks rolled past Colorado School of Mines, 7-1.

Fort Lewis rose to 8-4-2 overall and 5-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, and into third place in the RMAC standings with 15 points, behind a lethal offensive performance that matched its season high with 13 shots on frame across 16 shots in total and six corner kicks.

Bretvik kicked off the action early, scoring twice in six minutes in the 15th and 21st minutes, with Noam Maggartou, who moved into third on the roster with three assists this year, assisting on both goals. Bretvik's final strike of brilliance came late in the 80th minute when Bretvik split another pair of defenders and found the back post to notch Fort Lewis' first hat trick since last year. Papakonstantinou assisted for his second of the year.

Freshman Johan N'Ganzadi, not technically credited with an assist, drew his third penalty kick of the season in the 29th minute, setting the stage for Pinto to net his first career penalty kick attempt for his fourth goal of the campaign.

The second half was even more favorable for the Skyhawks, with Papakonstantinou notching his first collegiate goal in the 61st with a rifle off a volley tucked under the crossbar from 30 yards out. Pinto earned the assist, good for his sixth this year.

Déjà vu came later in the 79th minute, when, from a near-identical spot, Rojas matched Papakonstantinou with a rifle of his own from distance for his first career goal. Zachary Lanman had the assist, his first as a Skyhawk. Larson capped off the scoring with his first collegiate goal in the 89th minute with a tap-in goal on quality assistance from Kevin Pasinski, who earned his first collegiate point as well.

Colorado School of Mines (0-12-3, 0-6-1 RMAC) broke the shutout in the 69th minute with a through-ball from Avi Levin that put Pol Garcia Oliveras in a one-on-one situation behind the backline where a quality finish secured his fifth goal in eight matches. Mines took four shots, all on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Noah Hildreth made a career-high six saves.
