RMAC announces football Preseason Coaches’ Poll, Preseason All-Conference teams

DENVER, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has announced its 2026 Preseason Football Coaches' Poll, with the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks picked to finish in ninth place, as well as its Preseason All-Conference teams.
 
The Preseason Coaches' Poll is voted upon by each of the league's 10 head coaches. Head coaches were not permitted to vote for their own team. Again, this season, the RMAC's preseason teams are determined by placing returning players in order of head coaches' voting from the league's 2025 All-RMAC Teams. 
 
Fort Lewis was voted to a ninth-place finish for the second straight year, capturing 16 votes ahead of tenth-place Adams State University with 10 points. Two-time defending RMAC Champions Colorado State University Pueblo has once again been picked to win the league, capturing eight first-place votes and one second-place vote en route to 80 overall points. Western Colorado University and Colorado School of Mines round out the top three with 69 points and 62 points, respectively.
 
Carving out the middle of the pack is Chadron State College in fourth place with 60 points, followed by Colorado Mesa University in fifth with 52 points, New Mexico Highlands University in sixth with 38 points, South Dakota Mines in seventh with 34 points, and Black Hills State University in eighth with 29 points.
 
The Skyhawks are set to kick off the program's 64th season on Saturday, Aug. 29, out east in Liberty, Mo., as Fort Lewis challenges William Jewell College at Greene Stadium at 11 a.m. Mountain Standard Time. FLC will play host to Arizona Christian University under the lights of Ray Dennison Memorial Field for its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m, before New Mexico Highlands invades the following Saturday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m., to mark the beginning of conference play.
