DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis College volleyball head coach Justin Wong has named Jason Sears as the program's assistant coach ahead of the 2026 season.

Sears joins the Skyhawks with more than 30 years of volleyball experience as a coach, director, player and administrator. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to developing student-athletes, building volleyball programs and mentoring players at every level of the game.

"From the moment we began discussing this opportunity, I knew Jason would be an outstanding addition to our staff," Wong said. "His high-level club coaching and extensive experience in Dallas provide tremendous value both in the gym and on the recruiting trail. Just as importantly, Jason's work ethic, passion for the game and commitment to continuous growth will help elevate our program as we continue striving for success."

"With knowing Justin and several of the players already, the transition into this assistant role could not go any better. I am looking forward to watching this team create waves in the RMAC this year, catch people by surprise and go deeper in the conference tournament."

Most recently, Sears served as a head coach with MadFrog Volleyball Club, leading both the 14 National White and 18 National Black teams to USA Volleyball Nationals in 2026. He has also coached at several of the nation's premier clubs, including Excel Volleyball Club, Dallas Summit Volleyball Club and Dallas Juniors Volleyball Club. His coaching experience spans a wide range of ages and competitive levels, from youth development programs to elite national teams.

In addition to his club coaching experience, Sears has served as a varsity head coach at both Ursuline Academy of Dallas and John Paul II High School, helping student-athletes achieve success on and off the court.

Sears also brings extensive administrative and program-development experience. As the former volleyball director for Sportsplex at Valley View and Dallas Juniors Volleyball Club, he managed year-round programming, oversaw dozens of teams and coaches each season, directed camps and clinics, and helped develop hundreds of athletes annually. His leadership played a significant role in expanding volleyball opportunities and fostering player development throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
