COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following a dominant weekend that helped the Fort Lewis College volleyball team to a pair of conference victories, senior outside hitter Alina Nunez has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Offensive Player of the Week.

The honor is the second of the season for Nunez, who previously earned the award on Sept. 7.

Nunez was the offensive catalyst in wins over Chadron State College and Regis University, totaling 37 kills across seven sets for an average of 5.29 kills per set. She hit .348 for the weekend while adding 15 digs, two blocks and one service ace.

The senior opened the weekend by leading all players with 14 kills on .387 hitting in a straight-set victory over Chadron State. Nunez committed just two errors on 31 swings while adding five digs, one service ace and a solo block. Her performance helped the Skyhawks hit .244 as a team while holding the Eagles to .115.

Nunez elevated her play again on Saturday against Regis, putting down a match-high 23 kills on 49 swings while hitting .327. She added 10 digs to complete the double-double as Fort Lewis earned a four-set victory over the Rangers. The Skyhawks hit .267 in the match and finished with 63 kills compared to 39 for Regis.

The pair of wins moved Fort Lewis to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in RMAC play while completing an unbeaten home-opening weekend inside Whalen Gymnasium.

Nunez and the Skyhawks return to the road this week for the RMAC Regional Pod, beginning with a matchup against New Mexico Highlands on Friday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. Fort Lewis will then travel to Alamosa to face Adams State on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 3 p.m.
