Guy Begay

Guy Begay is in his third season as head coach of the men's and women's golf programs.  He was named Fort Lewis College head men's and women's golf coach in August 2014.  

In his third year at the helm, Begay coached the men's team to a fifth place finish at the RMAC Men's Golf Championship in the 2016-17 season. A year earlier, he had coached the women's team to an eighth place finish at the RMAC Women's Golf Championship in the 2015-16 season. Six Skyhawks earned RMAC post-season awards and eight were named to the Academic All-RMAC team.


A 2004 graduate of Fort Lewis College, Begay competed on the Skyhawks men's golf team from 2000-2004.  He has played a role in two of the Skyhawks five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships (2005, 2011). Begay received his Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education from New Mexico State University in 2006.
 
A PGA Class A Professional, he has held the role as the Skyhawks assistant coach for the past seven years.  As the assistant coach, Begay established a recruiting program, as well as fundraising and providing academic oversight to the men's golf student-athletes.
 
Since 2006, Begay has served as the Assistant Golf Professional at Hillcrest Golf Course in Durango where he has successfully helped organize and operate more than 30 tournaments per season while also managing golf operations and Hillcrest employees.
 
Guy and his wife, Shaula Palmer-Begay, reside in Shiprock, N.M.  A 2004 graduate of Fort Lewis College, Palmer-Begay was a student-athlete for the Skyhawks women's soccer team.  Guy and Shaula have a baby daughter, Hadley.
