New to the Skyhawk volleyball program is 2012 is assistant coach Terene Foutz — though she is certainly no stranger to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference or Four Corners volleyball fans. She has more than 15 years of coaching experience, ranging from NCAA Division II to the high school ranks to USAVolleyball.
“Coach T” is in her sixth season overall and fifth as executive director of the Four Corners Volleyball Club. The FCVBC is a 15-team USAVolleyball Program for girls ages 9-18, cross-sectioning ten school district volleyball programs. She is the passionate organizer of local Pink Digs for a Cure cancer events, benefitting local cancer patients in Southwest Colorado and involving area high school, middle school, and Fort Lewis College teams.
Her coaching experience also includes head coaching stints for the FCVBC’s U16 girls in 2007, the Pine River Volleyball Club’s U18 girls from 2005-06, Fruita Monument High School from 1997-2000, and the Grand Junction Volleyball Club’s U16/U18 team from 1996-98.
She served as top assistant coach at Mesa State College (now Colorado Mesa University) from 2000-02 under her former collegiate coach, Rusty Crick.
Foutz won a bevy of awards at Mesa State College, including Phillips 66 Academic All-RMAC honors from 1994-96, first team All-RMAC in 1995, first team All-RMAC West Division in 1996, RMAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in 1996, MSC Alumni Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 1996, MSC Offensive Player of the Year in 1996, and the William Foster Outstanding Senior Award in 1996. She served as team captain for the Mavs from 1994-96.
Foutz graduated from Mesa State with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an AAS in Hospitality Management in 1997. She received her Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership in 2005.
She is a current member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), Junior Volleyball Coaches Association (JVCA), and USAVolleyball, and was a member of the Western Slope Kiwanis Club “Young Children Priority One” from 2004-05.
Foutz graduated from nearby Montezuma-Cortez High School in 1987.
She and her husband of 18 years, Mike Foutz, have two children, Maddi and John.
