John Jewell was named head athletic trainer in 2023 following six successful years as an assistant athletic trainer for the Skyhawks.
Jewell graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training and became a Board Certified Athletic Trainer in the same year. He went on to earn his Master's degree in Athletic Administration from Central Washington University while serving as a graduate assistant for track and field, cross country, women's basketball, and football. Prior to his time at CWU, Jewell worked at Villanova University as an athletic trainer intern for the football and women's crew programs.
During his time as as a student at FLC, he was the head athletic training student for both basketball programs as well as football. He also aided the certified nurse practitioner in the FLC Health Center in his four years as a student. Jewell gained experience while assisting physical therapists at Rivergate Physical Therapy as well as working with the FLC Team Physician and Durango Orthopedics Associates.
