Biography

2024 (Sophomore)
Banquil had a quality sophomore campaign with the Skyhawks, starting in four of his 17 matches played across Fort Lewis' NCAA National Quarterfinal season... racked up 504 minutes on the pitch including a career-high 79 minutes on the road at Colorado Christian (Oct. 4)... earned his first career assist in the Skyhawks 5-0 rout over Lubbock Christian (Sept. 5) in the season opener... later added his second assist in a 1-0 clean sheet win at Colorado Mesa (Sept. 29)... stood as one of nine Skyhawks with two or more assists on the season... took five total shots across the year and placed one on-frame for a 20.0 percent shots-on-goal percentage... drew three cautions. 

Prior to FLC: Spent one season with the Urban Knights over at Academy of Art (NCAA DII)... made nine starts across 11 games and totaled 830 minutes on the pitch... supplied eight shots from the midfield position and placed two on-goal for a 25.0 percent shots-on-goal percentage... played 56 minutes or more in each appearance... won the ArtU Athletics Male Servant Leadership Award... named to the 2023-24 Academic All-PacWest Team... formerly a two-time letterwinner in both soccer and football at Desert Mountain High School... guided both squads to the State Semifinals in football and the second round of the playoffs in soccer... earned First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-District honors as a midfielder... named the squad's Most Valuable Player and won the Golden Boot... voted team captain... also tabbed as a First-Team All-Region Talent and the Special Teams Player of the Year as a punter on the football field.

Personal: Born November 15, 2004... son to Miriam Malak and John Banquil... has one sibling, Elijah... enjoys traveling, listening to music, working out, or just about anything outdoors... listens to Frank Ocean, Kanye West, SZA, and Dominic Fike among others... favorite foods include past, steak, and wings... intends on majoring in Entrepreneurship and Small Business while at FLC... when asked about his favorite part of Fort Lewis, Banquil shared, "The location of the college!"
