Kathryn Doherty

Doherty enters her first season as an assistant cross country and track and field coach in 2023.

Doherty started her collegiate career competing for Biola University (Division II) in Southern California. While there she placed fifth at Outdoor Nationals helping her relay team become All-Americans in 2017. She also competed in multiple PacWest Championships before transferring to Liberty University (Division I) in Virginia and competing while starting her graduate studies. Once her NCAA eligibility was completed, Doherty spent a year running at post collegiate elite level for the Hoka Aggies in Northern California.

During her time at Liberty University, she developed a passion for coaching while under the leadership of Coach Pete McFadden. Doherty then went on to coach at Randolph College (Division III) as the assistant cross country and track & field coach. She also spent time as the main middle-distance coach. While at Randolph, she helped coach multiple school records in the women’s 800, 1500, 5k, and women’s DMR.

Doherty currently is the Academic Advisor for student-athletes at Fort Lewis College. When she is not running or working, she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, golfing, and spending time with her husband and dogs.
