Kirk Grand

Grand begins his first year as the Athletics Academic Advisor and Eligibility Coordinator in 2026.

Grand bringing more than 15 years of experience supporting student-athletes at the highest levels of collegiate athletics. Throughout his career, Grand has worked with NCAA Division I programs in the SEC, ACC, and Big Ten conferences, serving in coaching, mentoring, and student development roles at institutions including Auburn University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Indiana University. His extensive background includes guiding student-athletes through academic, athletic, and personal development while collaborating with coaches, academic support staff, admissions, and compliance offices.

Grand holds a Ph.D. in Psychophysiology with an emphasis in Motor Learning and Performance Psychology from Auburn University, a master’s degree in Human Performance and Exercise Physiology from Indiana University, and a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. Most recently, he served as a specialist with USA Swimming, where he advised elite athletes and coaches on performance, learning, and development, including support at the Olympic level.

At Fort Lewis College, Grand will oversee academic advising and NCAA eligibility monitoring for Skyhawk student-athletes, helping them navigate their academic journeys while ensuring compliance with institutional and NCAA requirements. His student-centered approach, combined with expertise in learning science and athlete development, will support Fort Lewis student-athletes as they strive for success both in the classroom and in competition.
