Alex Herrera led the Skyhawks to two road wins against Chadron State College (W, 93-76) and Black Hills State University (W, 75-63) this past weekend. He averaged 27.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.0 blocks per game, and shot 60 percent from the floor (21-of-35) and 52.2 percent from the free throw line (12-of-23).
On Friday against the Eagles, he matched a career high in points (33), and added nine rebounds, seven blocks and one steal while hitting 13-of-19 field goals.
The following night against the Yellow Jackets, Herrera recorded his 10th double-double of the season while netting 21 points and grabbing 12 rebounds (all defensive). He blocked three shots and made 8-of-16 from the floor.
In 13 games this season, Herrera is averaging 22.4 points per game, 11.2 rebounds per game, and has totaled 52 blocked shots, 10 steals, 24 assists and is shooting 55.6 percent from the floor.
