Crowell Selected to Basketball All-Star Game

Crowell Named as One of 64 Players to Play in the Collegiate Basketball Invitational

DURANGO, CO - April 9, 2008 - Fort Lewis College men's basketball player Tim Crowell (Albuquerque, NM/Univ. of Cincinnati/Sandia HS) has been selected to participate in the 2008 Collegiate Basketball Invitational from April 24th-26th.

Crowell will head to Wadsworth, Ohio to participate in the first-class event which showcases the nation's top seniors from the NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA levels. There are only 64 players invited to participate in the event from approximately 1,000 colleges and universities throughout the country. The invitational is set up with eight teams with eight players on each team who compete from three days in a tournament which culminates with a champion being crowned on the final day.

Fellow Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) basketball player Brian Stamer will join Crowell in Wadsworth as the only RMAC players at the event.

Crowell helped lead the Skyhawks to the RMAC regular season and tournament titles this past year after transferring from the University of Cincinnati. He averaged 12.2 points and 6.9 assists per game and ranked eighth in the nation in both assists per game and assist-turnover ratio. He also helped lead the second ranked team in the nation in assist-turnover ratio.

"We're pleased that Timmy will be able to represent Fort Lewis," said head men's basketball coach Bob Hofman. "He helped contribute to a great season and we're happy him will be able to further represent our institution and program."

The Skyhawks concluded the most successful season in Fort Lewis College men's basketball history back in March with a 24-6 record. They advanced to the NCAA Division II National Tournament for the second-straight season and for the fifth time in the last seven years.
