November 20, 2009.  Durango, CO.  -  The Fort Lewis Men's & Women's Basketball teams will showcase their talents in their home openers for the the 2009-10 season this weekend. The eight team tournament consists of four teams on the men's side and four on the women's. 

The Women's Skyhawk Classic will open with the Mountaineers of Western State taking on Midwestern State at 1pm on Friday. The (4-0) Skyhawk Women will take on Dixie State on Friday at 5:30pm. The Skyhawks recently came off a huge victory over Norther New Mexico 120-46. The 74 point  victory set two records for the Hawk'. 120 is the most points scored by a FLC Women's Basketball team and a 74 point victory is the bigget deficit in a victory for an FLC team. On Saturday, Western State will face off against Dixie State at 1pm and Fort Lewis will match up against Midwestern State at 5:30pm.

The George B. Boedecker Foundation Classic for the men's side will open with NM Highlands University and Grand Canyon at 3pm on Friday. The Skyhawks (0-0) will open their regular season against Calumet College of St, Joseph's (2-4) at 7:30pm. Fort Lewis has only played one exhibition game this 2009-10 season against Division I Northern Arizona University, in which the Hawks' won 75-65. On Saturday NM Highlands will take on Calumet College of St. Jospeh's at 3pm anf Fort Lewis will go up against Grand Canyon University at 7:30 pm to wrapup the tournament.
