January 28th, 2010. Indianapolis, IN. - The NCAA Division II Basketball Committee has released the this week's (1st week) Division II basketball regional rankings. Both the Fort Lewis College men's and women's basketball teams landed a spot in the top ten teams of the Central Region. There are ten teams in each region which include their records through January 24th.
The FLC women's team has recorded yet again another record, as they became the first Fort Lewis women's basketball team to be ranked #1 in the region. The Skyhawks managed to make it to the #2 slot last season behind defending National Champions, Minnesota State Mankato but never climbed atop the Central Region. In this years first regional poll the # 8 nationally ranked Hawks' landed atop the Central Region with an 18-2 overall record, 8-1 conference record and a 15-2 in region record. Including the Skyhawks, three other RMAC teams landed a spot in this week's regional ranking, Adams State (#3), Colorado Mines (#8) and CSU-Pueblo (#10). The other six schools come from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Women's Central Regional Ranking is below and will be released every Wednesday until March 3rd.

Women's Live Stats
The Fort Lewis men's team was able to secure a regional spot at #6 in the Central Region of the ten team ranking. This will be the sixth straight time th men's team has been ranked in the top 8 in the first relaese of the regional rankings. Fort Lewis locked in the #6 slot with a 14-3 overall record, 8-1 conference record and a 11-3 in region record. Four teams from the RMAC also landed spots in this week's regional ranking, Colorado Christian (#8), Metro State (#3) and Mesa State (#1). The other six schools from the Central Region are also from the NSIC. The Central Region top ten teams are listed below and will also be released every Wednesday until March 3rd.
