Cannis, Defense Leads to 10th Win for No. 12 Women’s Soccer

Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Emma Cannis recorded her fourth goal of the season and second game-winning goal as she helped the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at New Mexico Highlands Sunday afternoon.
 
The Skyhawks defense and goalkeeper Caitlyn Espinosa held the Cowgirls to eight shots on the game.  Espinosa stopped all four shots on goal to give the Skyhawks their eighth shutout in 12 games.
 
Cannis scored in the 59th minute from Jordan Hix' assist.
 
The win moves Fort Lewis to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  New Mexico Highlands falls to 5-4-3 overall and 3-4-1 in league matches.
 
Fort Lewis will remain on the road next Friday, Oct. 18 at No. 5 Colorado Mines.  Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.  The Skyhawks will return home Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. match against CSU-Pueblo.
