Jordan Hix (Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado HS) scored her first goal of the game Wednesday afternoon at Adams State, giving the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team a 1-0 win over the Grizzlies. Hix' goal came in the 78
th minute and improved the Skyhawks overall record to 8-1 and 4-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
"It was a tough game today," said Fort Lewis head coach Damian Clarke. "Adams State is coming off three straight ties to Metro State, Regis and Western State this past week. They're a really tough team. They're playing good football. They connect on passes and they have a good plan to go forward."
"I thought for us we were gritty and realistically we found a few chances to play football and made one of them count," said Clarke. "Courtney (Riley) overlapped Emma (Cannis) who then passed the ball back to Courtney and Courtney found Jordan who finished from 18 out."
Both teams were about even in shots, with the Skyhawks posting the advantage, 10-7.
Caitlyn Espinosa made one save in the game to earn her seventh win on the season.
The Skyhawks will return home this Friday to face Colorado Christian at 3:30 p.m.
