Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Colorado Christian, 4-0

Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – Brooke Milliet netted her second goal of the season just nine minutes into the game Friday afternoon at Dirks Field.  The goal proved to be the game-winning goal as the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team notched their seventh shutout of the season. 
 
Nicole Schumacher took a free kick near center field that went directly to Milliet who finished the pass from three yards in front of the center.  In the 16th minute, the Skyhawks took a 2-0 lead after a cross pass went off a Cougars defender into the net for an own goal.
 
With a 2-0 lead at the half, Sam Weiss posted her sixth and seventh goals of the season.  Hix sent a pass down the center of the field to Weiss who had an open field and chipped the ball past the goalie into the right side of the net.  Carolyn Archer recorded an assist on the fourth goal of the game at 75:28.
 
The Skyhawks held Colorado Christian to one shot in the first half, and two in the second half.  Fort Lewis attempted 22 shots in the game, with 13 of them landing on goal.
 
Caitlyn Espinosa improved to 8-1 on the season after making two saves in goal.  The win also marked her seventh shutout of the season.

The Skyhawks will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 11 against UC-Colorado Springs.  Fort Lewis will kick off the game at 3:30 p.m. at Dirks Field.
