Skyhawks Advance to Semifinal Round behind Milliet’s Goal

Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – Brooke Milliet netted her first game-winning goal of the season Wednesday afternoon against sixth-seed UC-Colorado Springs to lift the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win in the first round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament.
 
Emma Cannis served a ball to Milliet near centerfield, resulting in Milliet going one-on-one with a Mountain Lion defender.  She zig-zagged around her defender and put the ball past the goalie in the lower left corner of the net. 
 
The goal, which came at 17:57 in the first half, was Milliet's second goal this season.
 
Fort Lewis, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, doubled up on the Mountain Lions shots, posting 16 attempts to UCCS eight attempts.  Caitlyn Espinosa stopped all five of UCCS' shots on goal for her 11th shutout this season.
 
The Skyhawks will travel to Golden, Colo. to face No. 2 seed Metro State Friday night at 6:30 p.m.  Fort Lewis defeated Metro State, 2-1, in their only meeting of the regular season.  Fans can listen to Terry Spriggs and Brian Fredrick call the game on KIUP 930 AM or www.radiodurango.com
