Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. – Coming off of their first loss of the season this past Friday at Western State, the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team rebounded to post a 3-1 win at CSU-Pueblo Sunday afternoon.
The Skyhawks were led by
Sam Weiss who recorded her third career hat trick. Weiss netted the first three goals of the game before CSU-Pueblo denied the Skyhawks their sixth shutout of the season.
Weiss' first goal came just four minutes into the game when she put the ball in the middle of the goal from
Therese Romero. Six minutes later
Emma Cannis assisted on a breakaway with Weiss who scored to the back left of the goal, giving Fort Lewis a 2-0 lead at the half. Weiss struck for the third time at 52:28. Romero passed to Weiss from 40 yards out. Weiss booted the ball in from the left side to give Fort Lewis a 3-0 lead. With eight minutes to play in regulation, the ThunderWolves Abigail Chris put CSUP on the scoreboard from a corner kick.
The Skyhawks defense allowed only six shots by CSU-Pueblo, two of which were on target. Fort Lewis posted 12 shots in the game, six of which were on goal.
Fort Lewis will play Wednesday at Adams State at 3 p.m., before returning home Friday afternoon to face Colorado Christian at 3:30 PM.
