DURANGO, Colo. – October 1, 2014 –
Caitlyn Espinosa, the reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, made three saves against Adams State University to help the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team record their fifth shutout of the season. Both teams were held scoreless for 110 minutes, resulting in a 0-0 tie.
The draw moves Fort Lewis College to 2-3-4 overall and 1-1-3 in the RMAC. Adams State is now 1-6-2 overall and 0-3-2 in league games.
The tie is Espinosa's fourth straight shutout. Five of the Skyhawks nine games this season have gone into overtime, including the last four home games which have all resulted in double overtime 0-0 draws.
Fort Lewis held a 19-8 shots advantage over the Grizzlies in regulation, but ASU outshot FLC 6-3 in the two overtime periods. Eight of the Skyhawks 22 shots were on goal.
Jessica Singleton tied for game high honors with five shots.
Courtney Riley added four shots and a game high three shots on goal.
The Skyhawks will travel to Colorado Christian University for an 11 a.m. match against the Cougars this Friday.
