DENVER, Colo. – October 24, 2014 – The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team bid to upset the eighth-ranked team in the nation fell short Friday night at MSU Denver, 2-1. The loss moves the Skyhawks to 5-5-5 overall and 4-3-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners improve to 12-1-2 overall and 9-0-2 in league games.

Jimmy Hall. "We went down 2-0 early in the second half and battled back to earn a penalty kick. Cooper (
Alicia Sanchez) scored and we almost tied the game a few times."
After a scoreless first half, the Roadrunners netted two goals in a three minute span to take a 2-0 lead after the 55
th minute. MSU's first goal came at 53:00 on a penalty kick. The Skyhawks got on the board at 75:01 after
Alicia Sanchez converted a penalty kick for her third goal of the season.
Caitlyn Espinosa stopped seven of nine shots on goal in 90 minutes. Fort Lewis was outshot 15-10 (9-5 shots on goal).
Shannon Harpham led FLC with three shots (two shots on goal).
The Roadrunners' Carly Nelson took a game high five shots. She and teammate Abby Rolph notched a game high three shots on goal.
The Skyhawks will return home to play UCCS Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
