DENVER, Colo. – October 26, 2014 – The Fort Lewis College men's soccer team outshot MSU Denver 20-7 Sunday afternoon on their way to a 2-1 overtime win at Regency Athletic Complex. The win improves the Skyhawks record to a 9-7 overall and 7-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners move to 10-5 on the year and 7-5 in the league.
Eleven of the Skyhawks 20 shots landed on goal, including
Luke Lawrence's game-winning goal at 1:38 in the first overtime period.
Elliot Prost made a long pass into the box before Lawrence finished for his fifth goal of the season.
The Roadrunners scored the first goal of the game in the 21
st minute when Danny Arrubla and Justin Glivar assisted Jeff Gillis.
Yannis Becker tallied his 10
th goal of the season at 37:48 on an assist from
Maik Brandt to knot the game at 1-1.
Lawrence's goal was his third game-winning goal of the season.
Becker led both teams with seven shots (four shots on goal). Lawrence added six shots (two shots on goal).
Junior goalkeeper
Ryan Schaul played all 91:38 minutes between the posts. He stopped one of two shots on goal by the Roadrunners.
Fort Lewis will play their final road game of the regular season on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. at Colorado Mines.
