Men’s Soccer Charts Seventh Win of the Season

PUEBLO, Colo. – October 5, 2014 – Elliot Prost and Luke Lawrence scored one goal each to lead the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team to a 2-1 win at Colorado State University-Pueblo Sunday afternoon.  The win marked the Skyhawks seventh of the season as they improve to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

"I was delighted for Elliot to score today," said Fort Lewis College head men's soccer coach Oige Kennedy. "It was a wonderful finish from him and he has worked so hard to be fit again for the season, so that goal was well deserved.  I also felt Luke is beginning to regain his sharpness after being out a few weeks, so it was great for him to score."

"We have two very important games this next weekend with two of the top teams in the RMAC coming to Dirks Field," said Kennedy.  "For us these are the fixtures our players love – quality teams coming to play in Durango and an opportunity to test yourself against the best."

Prost's goal at 56:20 was his first of the season.  Tamnio Kroeger assisted Prost on the goal, making it his third assist of the season.  Luke Lawrence netted his third goal this year and his first game-winning goal after he found the back of the net at 72:37 to give the Skyhawks a 2-0 lead.  Lawrence led the team with five shots and he tied Prost for team high honors of two shots on goal.

CSU-Pueblo prevented the clean sheet for the Skyhawks after scoring off a corner kick at 87:14.

Both teams recorded 16 shots in the game.  The Skyhawks edged the Pack on shots on goal, 8-6.

Ryan Schaul improved to 6-1 on the year after making five saves between the posts.

Fort Lewis will play their next three games at home, beginning this weekend against Metro State on Friday at 3 p.m. and Colorado Mines on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
