DURANGO, Colo. – November 2, 2014 –
Yannis Becker scored his third game-winning goal of the season Sunday afternoon against Colorado Christian University at Dirks Field, leading the Skyhawks to a 1-0 overtime win.
The win improves the Skyhawks record to 11-7 overall and 9-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Cougars finish the regular season 5-13 overall and 2-12 in RMAC games.
Twenty-nine seconds into overtime,
Zac Lawrence dribbled into the box and passed to
Yannis Becker who slid in to score the golden goal. Becker leads the Skyhawks with 11 goals this season.
The win was the Skyhawks third straight overtime game, all three of which resulted in wins for Fort Lewis.
Fort Lewis dominated offensively with a 30-8 shots advantage.
Zac Lawrence,
Luke Lawrence, Becker and
Elliot Prost each registered five shots.
Ryan Schaul posted his 10
th win of the season after stopping the Cougars lone shot on goal.
Fort Lewis will host a first round game on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m. The official RMAC men's soccer bracket will be announced tonight.
